In’ei Wall Fragments

A sculptural exploration of clay, texture, and shadow. In’ei Wall Fragments are individually hand-carved using the Kurinuki technique, with each cut and groove carrying the movement of the maker’s hand.

Finished in raw white clay and patina glaze, the contrasting surfaces respond to light differently, creating layers of depth and shadow across the wall. Each fragment is unique and can be arranged freely—individually or together as a larger composition.

Rooted in the philosophy of In Praise of Shadows, the fragments transform the wall into an evolving canvas of material, light, and imperfection.
